Animal Medical Service provides emergency care services during office hours to pet owners in Brewton and the surrounding areas of Alabama. In the event of an emergency during office hours, please call (251) 867-6676 before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
You can be assured that your pet’s emergency will receive a prompt response from our staff as we work to achieve a stable condition while diagnosing your pet’s injury or illness.
When should you seek emergency care for your pet? The easiest answer as to whether you should seek emergency care for your pet is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait. However, the following general situations should help you determine if you need to seek emergency care for your pet:
- Difficulty breathing
- Acute abdominal swelling
- Electric shock
- Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
- Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
- Sudden onset of weakness
- High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
- Unable to urinate or defecate
Should you have an emergency outside of our regular office hours, please call (251) 867-6676 and select Option 1. There are times when Dr. Thompson may be unreachable or out of town. During those times, he refers his patients to Veterinary Emergency Referral Center in Pensacola (850) 477-3914.
